World number one Carlos Alcaraz fired 30 winners and won 11 of 12 net points to defeat Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4 6-4 4 for his 56th win of the season and a place in the Paris Masters third round.<\/p>\n
The 19-year-old Spaniard was quick out of the blocks to overpower his Japanese opponent despite losing serve in the first set on the only break point he faced all contest, which lasted one-hour and 12 minutes.<\/p>\n
“First round in every tournament is never easy. You have to be really focused, you have to try to get good rhythm, good feeling in the first round,” Alcaraz said.<\/p>\n
“This court is a little bit different than Basel. “I had to get used to this court in the match. I felt [it was] fast, this court, but I’m a good player on indoor courts… These kinds of courts help me with my game.”<\/p>\n
Alcaraz will now meet Bulgaraian Grigor Domitrov, who sailed into the third round with a 6-0 7-5 win over Italy’s Fabio Fognini.<\/p>\n
