{"id":394510,"date":"2022-11-09T08:21:49","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T13:21:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=394510"},"modified":"2022-11-09T15:07:21","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T20:07:21","slug":"jabeur-aims-high-after-finishing-as-world-no-2","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/jabeur-aims-high-after-finishing-as-world-no-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Jabeur aims high after finishing as world No. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tunisia\u2019s Ons Jabeur, who became the first African to reach the Top 10 in the world rankings, will now end the season as high as world No. 2 by the Women&#8217;s Tennis Association (WTA).<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old ranks second only to Polish player Iga Switaek, who has dominated the 2021-22 season and is the highest-ranked African and Arab tennis player in WTA and ATP rankings history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">&#8220;What a season it has been, so many emotions, titles, and memories,&#8221; delighted Jabeur, who reached the finals at Wimbledon and US Open this year, said. &#8220;I was close to making it even bigger, but I know what I have to do to reach higher summits next year!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jabeur climbed to the top 100 by the end of 2017, the top 50 by the end of 2020, and the top 10 by the end of 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What a season it has been, so many emotions, titles and memories.
