Brazilian soccer star Dani Alves was arrested Friday after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Spain, the Catalan police said on Friday.<\/p>\n
The alleged act took place on Dec. 31 at a night club in Barcelona, but police said they could give no detail on the case.<\/p>\n
The 39-year-old defender Alves, who currently plays with Mexican club Pumas, will now go before a judge, who will decide on the charges, said a spokesperson for Catalonia’s regional police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra.<\/p>\n
The Brazilian was accused of putting his hands down the woman’s pants, according to local media reports.<\/p>\n
The charge of sexual assault in Spain can mean anything from unsolicited and unwanted sexual groping to rape.<\/p>\n
During his playing career, Alves won major titles with several top European clubs, including Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.<\/p>\n
