{"id":398852,"date":"2023-02-06T11:34:31","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T16:34:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=398852"},"modified":"2023-03-01T09:33:44","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T14:33:44","slug":"398852-2","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/398852-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Joe Woods to join New Orleans Saints as defensive coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/team\/new-orleans-saints\/\">New Orleans Saints<\/a> are expected to hire Joe Woods as their defensive coordinator, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>The 52-year-old Woods, who spent the past three seasons as defensive coordinator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/team\/cleveland-browns\/\">Cleveland Browns<\/a>, has been the Saints&#8217; top choice for the job.<\/p>\n<p>Saints head coach Dennis Allen and Woods worked together during the 2014 season with the Oakland Raiders when Allen was head coach and Woods was defensive backs coach.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>The Saints allowed both of their co-defensive coordinators from last season to move on. They parted ways with Kris Richard and let Ryan Nielsen take the <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/team\/atlanta-falcons\/\">Atlanta Falcons<\/a>&#8216; defensive coordinator position.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\" data-min-tv-running=\"true\">\n<p>Last month, Woods was sacked by the Browns after they ranked 20th in points allowed and 14th in yards allowedin the regular season.<\/p>\n<p>The Saints ranked ninth in points allowed and fifth in yards allowed in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New Orleans Saints are expected to hire Joe Woods as their defensive coordinator, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.
