The Canadians were joined by the USA in a huddle before kick-off.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.1\">\n<div id=\"bbccom_mpu_1_2_3\" class=\"bbccom_slot bbccom_standard_slot mpu_first_slot\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.1.$body-0\">\n<div class=\"bbccom_advert\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.1.$body-0.0\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-3.0\">Earlier in the week, Canada called off strike action with <\/span>captain Christine Sinclair saying her team were &#8220;mentally exhausted&#8221;.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5.0\">&#8220;Either we&#8217;re fighting for everything and come out on fire or we come out flat. And I think you saw those first 10, 15 minutes, we came out flat,&#8221; Sinclair said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-6\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-6.0\">&#8220;I think we looked like a team that was tired, coming up against a team&#8230; I mean, they&#8217;re defending World Cup champions for a reason and you have to be at your best to compete with them. And we weren&#8217;t tonight.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.0\">Before the match, the Canadian Soccer Players Association said the team would &#8220;continue to wear purple until our association has standards in place that ensure equal treatment and opportunity&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8.0\">Both teams wore purple tape on their wrists during the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.0\">Canada called off a strike because of threats of legal action by the CSA and said they would play in the four-team SheBelieves Cup tournament &#8220;in protest&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.0\">They have threatened to boycott a team camp in April if their demands are not met.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.0\">The CSA says it has a &#8220;proven track record&#8221; of supporting women&#8217;s football, adding pay equality was &#8220;at the core&#8221; of negotiations with the national team players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-12\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-12.0\">Mallory Swanson scored both goals for the USA in the first half.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-13\"><span data-reactid=\".daz0npvils.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-13.0\">Canada head coach Bev Priestman said the team have to &#8220;push through&#8221; for the rest of the tournament, with Canada playing Brazil on Sunday and Japan next Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bev Post-Match Reaction \ud83c\udf41<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I think there&#39;s some great learnings for us.
