Japan’s Honda has revealed a number of Formula 1 teams have raised an interest for an engine supply deal from 2026 after the the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer\u00a0registered for the new regulations.<\/p>\n
Power unit regulations will change in 2026 with the alterations aimed at enticing new manufacturers into the sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter we made the registration we have been contacted by multiple Formula 1 teams,\u201d Honda Racing Corporation president Koji Watanabe said.<\/p>\n
The Japanese manufacturer, though, have yet to commit to anyone.<\/p>\n
Honda officially walked away from Formula 1 at the end of the 2021 season, the Japanese manufacturer having wrapped up a Drivers\u2019 Championship title with Red Bull and Max Verstappen.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the time being we would like to keep a close eye on where Formula 1 is going and just see how things go,” Watanabe added.<\/p>\n
“For now, we don\u2019t have any concrete decisions on whether or not we will be going back to joining Formula 1.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut from the perspective of technological development, we think that being part of Formula 1 is going to help us with technological development.<\/p>\n
“So that is were we are.\u201d<\/p>\n
Whilst Ford and Audi have taken that step, there was surprise when the FIA confirmed Honda’s registration with a view to rejoining the grid having left at the end of 2021, though it continues to support Red Bull.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
