{"id":416473,"date":"2023-02-21T01:14:59","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T06:14:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=416473"},"modified":"2023-03-01T10:03:16","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T15:03:16","slug":"cooter-could-join-colts-as-offensive-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/cooter-could-join-colts-as-offensive-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooter could join Colts as offensive coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/team\/indianapolis-colts\/\">Indianapolis Colts<\/a> are reportedly expected to appoint Jim Bob Cooter as their new offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>The 38-year-old Cooter, who began his NFL coaching career in 2009 as an offensive assistant with the Colts, spent 2022 as the <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/team\/jacksonville-jaguars\/\">Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>&#8216; passing game coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>He acted as the <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/team\/detroit-lions\/\">Detroit Lions<\/a>&#8216; offensive coordinator from 2016-18 after holding the quarterbacks coach position from 2014-15.<\/p>\n<p>Under Cooter, the Lions ranked 20th, seventh, and 25th in points per game.<\/p>\n<p>Indianapolis\u00a0averaged the second-fewest points per game (17) and the sixth-fewest yards per game (311.6) in 2022 while cycling through <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/player\/matt-ryan\/\">Matt Ryan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/player\/sam-ehlinger\/\">Sam Ehlinger<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/player\/nick-foles\/\">Nick Foles<\/a> at quarterback.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts are widely expected to draft a quarterback near the top of the 2023 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Cooter has worked with the likes of Peyton Manning, <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/player\/matthew-stafford\/\">Matthew Stafford<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/player\/jalen-hurts\/\">Jalen Hurts<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/nfl\/player\/trevor-lawrence\/\">Trevor Lawrence<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly expected to appoint Jim Bob Cooter as their new offensive coordinator.
