Canadian driver Lance Stroll, who sustained injuries in a cycling accident earlier this week, could miss the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 5 – 2023 Formula One’s season-opener.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was training, trying to work on his fitness so he was cycling\u201d Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack told reporters in Bahrain. \u201cThere was an incident and he hurt himself.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor precaution reason, we decided it\u2019s better to wait a little bit and be ready next week.”<\/p>\n
After the incident, Stroll said:<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve had an unfortunate accident whilst training on my bike in preparation for the season. I am motivated to bounce back from this setback as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
Krack, however, refused to reveal more details about the injuries, describing it a \u201cprivate\u201d matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, this is his personal thing,\u201d he explained. \u201cHe\u2019s injured on the hand but I don\u2019t want to go into detail because this is also private.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aston Martin has yet to decide who will fill in for Stroll if he misses the Bahrain GP with both Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne available.<\/p>\n
Vandoorne has F1 experience but yet to turn a lap this year while Drugovich already tested the car during pre-season testing in Bahrain.<\/p>\n
Krack is in no hurry to make a decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Drugovich) did the (Thursday) morning session,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is something you have to do as a team, to cover all eventualities.<\/p>\n
