{"id":427766,"date":"2023-02-27T16:50:31","date_gmt":"2023-02-27T21:50:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=427766"},"modified":"2023-02-27T16:55:31","modified_gmt":"2023-02-27T21:55:31","slug":"messi-named-footballer-of-the-year-at-the-best-fifa-football-awards","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/messi-named-footballer-of-the-year-at-the-best-fifa-football-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Messi wins Best FIFA Men&#8217;s Player Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leo Messi has been named the men\u2019s footballer of the year at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-0ld, who led Argentina to their first World Cup triumph since 1986 in December, beat off competition from Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappe.<\/p>\n<p>Messi won the award for his outstanding performances in men&#8217;s football from Aug. 8 2021 to Dec. 18 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Messi previously won The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Player award on just one other occasion.<\/p>\n<p>His first appearance at the FIFA gala dated back to 2007.
