However, a final collective bargaining deal with both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s sides, remains under negotiation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-415809\" src=\"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/canada-usa.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.1\">\n<div id=\"bbccom_mpu_1_2_3\" class=\"bbccom_slot bbccom_standard_slot mpu_first_slot\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.1.$body-0\">\n<div class=\"bbccom_advert\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.1.$body-0.0\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-3.0\">The women&#8217;s team had threatened to boycott a camp<\/span><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-3.3\">\u00a0in April if demands over funding and pay inequality are not met.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5.0\">&#8220;Canada Soccer has announced that a deal in principle has been reached with the Women&#8217;s National Team Players on an interim funding agreement for 2022,&#8221; the Canada Soccer Association (CSA) said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.0\">In February, Canada&#8217;s women called off a planned strike because of the governing body&#8217;s threats of legal action, but they protested during the recent SheBelieves Cup by wearing T-shirts<\/span><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.3\">\u00a0with the phrase &#8220;enough is enough&#8221; before their matches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8.0\">&#8220;This is about respect, this is about dignity, and this is about equalizing the competitive environment in a world that is fundamentally unequal,&#8221; Canada Soccer&#8217;s general secretary Earl Cochrane said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.0\">&#8220;We have been consistent and public about the need to have fairness and equal pay be pillars of any new agreements with our players, and we are delivering on that today.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.0\">A few days ago, Canada Soccer president Nick Bontis resigned in<\/span><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.3\"> a move welcomed by the Canadian Soccer Players&#8217; Association (CSPA) and Canadian Men&#8217;s National Soccer Team Players&#8217; Association (CMNSTPA) as &#8220;one necessary step&#8221; in ensuring the future success of the national teams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11\"><span data-reactid=\".f7i6evr8yo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.0\">In a joint statement, the CSPA and CMNSTPA asked Canada Soccer for &#8220;transparent and comprehensive access&#8221; to financial records in light of recent funding cuts.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: Canada Soccer has reached a deal in principle with the WNT players on an interim funding agreement for 2022.
