Ville Husso made the impressive 39 saves.<\/p>\n<p>Kubalik\u2019s goal was against the team where he played his first three seasons in NHL. He signed with Detroit as a free agent prior to this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou always want to beat the old team,\u201d he said. \u201cThe team is different, obviously, after a lot of trades. There\u2019s not too many guys left that I know, but you always want to play good against them and score or something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Red Wings had gone 0-5-1 after getting into position for a wild-card berth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI liked it a ton,\u201d coach Derek Lalonde said of his team\u2019s performance. \u201cThe message afterward was we talked about not giving up on the season or feeling sorry for ourselves on the season.
