Cameron Norrie run riot as he defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to reach Indian Wells quarter-finals in California.<\/p>\n
The British star managed to convert all his 5 breaking points to accomplish an impressive victory over tough opposition.<\/p>\n
“Andrey is not an easy guy to beat, so I was really pleased to come through in straight sets,” said the 27-year-old in a post-match Interview.<\/p>\n
“Off the ground I was rock solid. It was a little cooler today so I felt like I had more time on the ball. I played well in the big moments.”<\/p>\n
The game got off to a flying start for the 10th seeded Norrie as he was able to immediately break Rublev for 1-0. However, the 25-year old Russian fought back for 1-1 as Norrie was enduring difficulties with his serve.<\/p>\n
Rublev joy was short-lived as he allowed Norrie to break back straightaway. Nothing was going right for the Russian as Norrie broke him for a third time and went on to clinch the first set 6-2.<\/p>\n
In the second set, fortunes didn’t change as the British star was able to brake his Russian opponent in two quick successions for 5-2. Rublev fought back and even saved a match point to make it 5-4, but the inevitable happened and Norrie secured the set 6-4 and the victory overall.<\/p>\n
The world no.10 faces either Frances Tiafoe or Alejandro Tabilo in the last 8.<\/p>\n
