New York Mets made an announcement on Thursday night that Edwin Diaz has undergone surgery earlier in the day.<\/p>\n
Without giving details, manager Billy Eppler said that the usual period for this type of injury to recover takes up to eight months.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are instances where athletes have come back earlier, more around the six-month mark,\u201d Eppler told reporters.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut those are a little bit more of the exception than the rule.\u201d<\/p>\n
Diaz picked up his injury in a rather silly way, celebrating a victory in the World Baseball Classic. He is expected to begin a rehabilitation program in about week’s time.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo all my beloved fans, especially the Mets fans, I want to let you know that I am doing well and healing,\u201d D\u00edaz wrote a message on Tweeter.<\/p>\n
