Chelsea defender Reece James will be out of the national squad for England’s next Euro 2024 qualifers game against Ukraine on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

The 23-year old has returned to Stamford Bridge due to “assesment of ongoing issue”, according to the Football Association.<\/p>\n

James featured briefly in England’s 2-1 win over Italy in Naples after coming on in the 85th in the place Bukayo Saka.<\/p>\n

Manager Gareth Southgate has decided not to call any backups to take the empty place.<\/p>\n

The Chelsea defender missed the 2022 World Cup with a knee injury, while in December he picked up another knee problem, which sidelined him for further one month.<\/p>\n

The rest of the English team continue their preparation at the Wembley Stadium for their second Group C game against Ukraine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
