Grand Slam record holder Rafael Nadal said he does not know when he will return to court, casting a shadow over his expected appearance at next month’s Monte Carlo tournament.<\/p>\n
Nadal, who has a total of 22 titles from the world’s four biggest tournaments, has not played since the Australian Open in January when he suffered a thigh injury.<\/p>\n
Two weeks ago, Monte Carlo Masters tournament director said Nadal was the first tennis player to register for the competition, which starts on April 8.<\/p>\n
“I’m following my recovery plan, but I can’t commit to a time frame when I’ll be able to play again. That’s the truth. Right now I’m in a phase of increasing the workload. If I knew when I would be back on court, I would announce it, but I don’t know. I can’t confirm that I will play in Monte Carlo.
