Justin Verlander has been put on the injury list by his team New York Mets with a strained upper back muscle before he even had a chance to make his debut on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The Mets announced that Verlander has a low-grade teres major strain, which made him unable to start the opening game against Miami Marlins.<\/p>\n
The 40-year old revealed that he had felt some discomfort in his upper arm and armpit throughout the whole spring training.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think looking back it\u2019s something that was kind of lingering but it was spring training and it\u2019s very normal to have to work through some stuff,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t give it much credence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mets general manager Billy Eppler said Verlander informed the team of the injury on Wednesday night and underwent an MRI on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
It is still unclear how long the recovery will last.<\/p>\n
