Irish World Championship driver Craig Breen has passed away in a testing accident that occurred on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The Hyundai team, that Breen had been driving for confirmed the tragic news later that day.<\/p>\n
“Hyundai Motorsport sends its sincerest condolences to Craig’s family, friends and his many fans,” the team said.<\/p>\n
Co-driver James Fulton escaped the crash unharmed.<\/p>\n
Breen \u00a0rejoined Hyundai on a part-time basis for the new WRC season having spent a year with the M-Sport Ford World Rally team.<\/p>\n
He finished second to Ott Tanak at Rally Sweden in February in his first WRC start of the season, in what was his sixth runner-up position in a WRC rally.<\/p>\n
Breen was taking part in Hyundai’s third car along with Spaniard Dani Sordo this year and was due to make his second appearance of the WRC season in Croatia.<\/p>\n
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the late driver.<\/p>\n
