He started the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field, but a little more than a month later tore UCL in his pitching elbow and needed surgery after which his career was never the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI pitched to win,\u201d Harvey wrote in his post. \u201cTo fire up my team and more importantly, to fire up the fans in a city that I\u2019ve always loved.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Matt Harvey announced on Friday he\u2019s retiring from baseball after a nine-year pitching career.
