Folarin Balogun confirmed on Tuesday morning that he will be playing for the US national team, snubbing England in the process.<\/p>\n
FIFA has approved the one-time switch of the Reims striker in time for him to feature in the country’s title defense in the Concacaf Nations League and Concacaf Gold Cup in the summer.<\/p>\n
Balogun can even go on to represent the country in the 2026 World Cup, co-held by the US, Canada and Mexico, as the national team has struggled to find an appropriate player for the No.9 position.<\/p>\n
The 21-year-old has bagged 19 goals in 34 appearance in Ligue 1 and sits sixth in the Golden Boot race. He was brought on loan from Arsenal and will return to the London team at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
From there he will most likely search for a new club as Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nkietah are the preferable options for the No.9 role in the Gunners’ squad.<\/p>\n
