Mateo Kovacic is closing in on transfer with Manchester City as the Chelsea’s midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Citizens, according to reports.<\/p>\n
Kovacic’ contract expires next summer and Chelsea are keen to sell him before he becomes a free agent in order to balance their transfer budget.<\/p>\n
The Croatian international was given the green light to negotiate with City and it is believed the two sides have reached an agreement on the personal terms.<\/p>\n
The transfer fee would be decided and announced after the Champions League final.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old has already stated that he is ready to leave Stamford Bridge after a torrid season and he will be more than welcome at City, who may find themselves needing a midfielder if Ilkay Gundogan decides to leave in the summer.<\/p>\n
“I have one year left on my contract with Chelsea. It’s been a really bad season,” Kovacic said.<\/p>\n
“Everything indicates that after five years I will change the environment , but we will see what happens.”<\/p>\n
