Lewis Hamilton<\/a> expressed his optimism that Mercedes will be able to mount a serious challenge to Red Bull by the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The Brackley team recently ditched its unconventional zero-sidepod concept, returning to a more traditional design, which skyrocketed them as Red Bull’s nearest challenger.<\/p>\n

All this was underlined by their excellent double podium finish in Spain with George Russell<\/a> coming home 3rd from 12th on the grid.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the current car that we have, I don\u2019t think we\u2019ll be matching their performance, but we\u2019re working on improving the car.\u201d Hamilton said<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the current package, we\u2019re limited to the pace that we had today, but I think there\u2019s a huge amount of work and studying and improvement that we hopefully will have coming in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I think we\u2019re going in the right direction and I know we have something in the pipeline moving forward, so I\u2019m hoping that at least by the end of the year, maybe we can\u2026 It would be great if we could challenge them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
