The Women Tennis Association has pledged for higher paychecks for his athletes in order to level the playing field with men.<\/p>\n
The Florida-based Association announced on Tuesday that it is revising its calendar and rules in order for some of its players to get to up to what is called a \u201cpathway to equal prize money\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWomen\u2019s professional sports don\u2019t receive the same level of compensation for those rights as men\u2019s professional sports do, which is why you see lower prize money paid or contracts (given) across all women\u2019s sports versus those of men. That\u2019s just an economic reality,\u201d\u00a0 WTA Chairman and CEO Steve Simon said.<\/p>\n
The changes need to be approved by the WTA Board of Directors in August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
