{"id":440013,"date":"2023-07-17T16:20:06","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T20:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=440013"},"modified":"2023-07-17T16:20:06","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T20:20:06","slug":"nike-ends-its-alliance-with-hockey-canada","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/nike-ends-its-alliance-with-hockey-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"Nike ends its alliance with Hockey Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nike decided to end its sponsor assistance with Hockey Canada.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Amid sexual assault scandals, Nike has ended it\u2019s partnership with Hockey Canada\u2019s men\u2019s program. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1Kvjm5Vj8y\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/1Kvjm5Vj8y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TSN (@TSN_Sports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TSN_Sports\/status\/1681000746467172354?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 17, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The sports apparel giant was 1 of several sponsors that paused its cooperation deal with Hockey Canada last year after heavy criticism of the Canadian hockey body\u2019s handling of sexual assault allegations and money paid in settlements.<\/p>\n<p>Nike\u2019s decision comes almost 14 days after Bauer reinstated its alliance with the hockey organization of Canada after they hired Curling Canada CEO Katherine Henderson as the new CEO and president of the body.<\/p>\n<p>Hockey Canada shares that they valued the cooperation that they had with Nike for almost 25 years and understood the sports apparel giant decision to end the partnership.<\/p>\n<p>Besides hiring Henderson as the new CEO, Hockey Canada made other changes to the organization in an attempt to restore its authority.<\/p>\n<p>The Hockey Canada board of directors resigned last year, as did the interim chair, Andrea Skinner.
