Daniel Ricciardo is making his F1 return this weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix with Alpha Tauri.<\/p>\n
According to Christian Horner, the Aussie is taking that step as a platform to stimulate his full return to Red Bull.<\/p>\n
The ideal scenario for Ricciardo is to race for Red Bull in 2025, as Sergio Perez’ contract expires in 2024.<\/p>\n
“Daniel firmly wants to be pitching for that 2025 Red Bull,” said Horner.<\/p>\n
“That’s his golden objective, and by going to Alpha Tauri he sees that as his best route of stating his case.”<\/p>\n
Red Bull have been in a league of their own this year, winning all 10 races, with Verstappen bagging 8 and Perez 2.<\/p>\n
However, the Mexican has struggled lately, failing to reach the top 10 in the past five races, while Verstappen has been sublime.<\/p>\n
All that has led to speculation that Perez’ future might not be so certain as it seems, despite team boss Horner confirming he will be driving for them in 2024.<\/p>\n
