The Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz both expressed their disappointment after a frustrating weekend in Hungary, which saw them finish P7 and P8 respectively.<\/p>\n
Leclerc labelled his result a “shame”, while Sainz also didn’t have anything flattering to say. Both drivers urged their team to step their game in order to close the gap to Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes.<\/p>\n
The Monegasque had a decent first stint, but a slow pitstop, compounded with a 5-second time penalty for speeding in the pitlane dropped him down the order.<\/p>\n
Sainz, who missed Q3 for the first time since Abu Dhabi 2021, also made a good start, jumping up to P6, but form there on he was unable to keep the pace and was eventually passed by resurgent Sergio Perez and flying George Russell.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot too bad,\u201d said Sainz, when asked about his day in Budapest. \u201cI think we had a very good start, a very good stint, and then we just follow a bit the pace of the car that this weekend hasn\u2019t been great”<\/p>\n
\u201cBut unfortunately, it\u2019s been quite evident that we\u2019ve finished quite far behind the McLarens, the Mercedes, and the Red Bulls which is what we need to keep focusing on.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
