Mikael Ymer has announced his official retirement from tennis after unsuccessful attempt to overturn the anti-doping ban he received last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve decided to retire from professional tennis. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it\u2019s been! I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition,\u201d Ymer wrote on social media on Friday.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old was charged back in January 2022 for missing three anti-doping tests in a 12-month span.<\/p>\n
The Swede was initially cleared from the charges by an independent tribunal in June 2022, but a month later the Court of Arbitration for Sport eventually imposed a 2-year ban and a 18-month suspension.<\/p>\n
Ymer was ranked as high as 50 i n the world in April and represented Sweden in the Davis Cup along with his older brother Elias. He was 80th in the most recent ATP rankings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
