Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson once told him that Manchester United are willing to pay Tottenham Hotspur \u00a3100m for Dele Alli.<\/p>\n
Pochettino had a key role in Alli’s rise as he helped the Englishman make his breakthrough in the first team.<\/p>\n
That didn’t go unnoticed by United’s former boss as he was impressed by Alli’s incredible progress up to an extend that the Scot gave him a \u00a3100m price tag.<\/p>\n
“When he arrived (at Spurs) from Milton Keynes, he was a kid,” Pochettino said.<\/p>\n
“We built a relationship and then step by step you could see the evolution of how he got to be his best, to be one of the best players in the Premier League.”<\/p>\n
“I always remember Sir Alex Ferguson saying to me ‘I will sign him for \u00a3100 million’ and that was when \u00a3100million was \u00a3100million, like \u00a3200million or \u00a3300million now.”<\/p>\n
However, Alli’s career has been a downhill in the last couple of years with the 27-year-old struggling to find form, which forced him to leave Spurs in January 2022. He now plays for Everton after brief loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas.<\/p>\n
