Long time NBA referee Eric Lewis has decide to retire in the wake of a league investigation into whether he used a then-Twitter account to defend himself and other officials from online criticism.<\/p>\n
The league announced his retirement Wednesday, less than three months after beginning an investigation on him. With his retirement, the NBA decided to close the investigation.<\/p>\n
The 52-year-old Lewis, who had worked the previous four NBA Finals, was out for last season’s Denver – Miami clashes. The social media controversy came to light in May after some now-deleted tweets were revealed by a pair of social media users.
