Someone hit me. &#8230; I don\u2019t cry much but I\u2019m trying to keep it together right now,\u201d an ecstatic Strickland said immediately after the bout.<\/p>\n<p>Adesanya was the clear favorite to retain the title he won back in April against Alex Pereira, but he fell short against Strickland masterful defending.<\/p>\n<p>The American quickly found his touch and with a string of counterattacks managed to land the more effective shots and deservedly won.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t fight that guy with that many highlight-reel knockouts,\u201d Strickland said about Adesanya. \u201cHe\u2019s beat \u2014 the majority of my friends, he\u2019s beat pretty easily. I was even kind of doubting myself at times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019ve got to say, the fans in Australia, you guys motivated me. When I\u2019m walking in here and I heard you guys yelling. In that fourth round I heard you guys yelling.
