Novak Djokovic is only a step away from writing yet another chapter in the history books as he aims for his 24th Grand Slam title, which would equal the record of Margaret Court.<\/p>\n
Daniil Medvedev stands in his way, the man, who beat him in the 2021 US Open final and Djokovic will be keen to get his own back against the Russian.<\/p>\n
“I understand every time in a Grand Slam final, it’s another shot for history,” Djokovic said.<\/p>\n
“But I don’t have much time, nor do I allow myself to reflect on these things or think about the history too much.<\/p>\n
“When I did that in the past, like the 2021 final here, I was maybe overwhelmed with the occasion and the opportunity, and I underperformed.”<\/p>\n
Third seed Medvedev, who beat Carlos Alcaraz in the 1\/2 final, is no stranger to breaking the Serb’s aspiration as he denied him 2 years ago from the honor of becoming the first player to win all Slam titles in a calendar year.<\/p>\n
Djokovic still remains firm favorite, but Medvedev is not the type of player to be underestimated, so it’s all to play for.<\/p>\n
