Ferrari legend Jody Scheckter, who won the 1979 title with the Scuderia, surprised fans with an interesting statement about Fernando Alonso that differs from the general impression of the Spaniard.<\/p>\n
Scheckter, 73, agreed that Alonso was “very good”, but said the media made him out to be better than he really is.<\/p>\n
“It’s clear that Fernando is very good,” Scheckter said. “I didn’t like some of the things he did early in his career. I didn’t like them at all. Alonso is good, he is aggressive, but I don’t think he is as good as some of the media think he is. But now he is doing well, great.\u201d<\/p>\n
“I’ve always said that if you still enjoy racing, your career can last longer as long as you don’t push yourself too hard,” Scheckter explained. “Maybe I didn’t do exactly that, but that is a personal decision for each pilot.\u201d, Sheckter added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
