Max Verstappen expressed his disappointment with Red Bull’s performance at Marina Bay Circuit, saying that they were ‘worse than expected’.<\/p>\n
Both Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez were struggling for grip in Friday practice as they could only manage P7 and P8, while the Ferraris topped the session.<\/p>\n
“There’s just a few things that we don’t understand. I will try to improve but it is quite a big gap.” the Dutchman remarked.<\/p>\n
Overall, Ferrari look favorites for front row start, but pace-setter Carlos Sainz did not rule out Red Bull, despite them being some 0.7 seconds off the pace.<\/p>\n
“When you look at their long-run pace, they looked the strongest car,” Sainz said.<\/p>\n
“Once they sort out the one-lap pace, they will be there and in the fight for pole but Mercedes and McLaren and Aston should also be in that fight so I think we are in for quite an exciting day.”<\/p>\n
