Jamie Garragher has come to the defense of Harry Maguire, claiming the English international has taken so much criticism that it is impossible to respond to teammates’ actions.<\/p>\n
One such example is goalkeeper Andre Onana, who blasted the defender during a pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n
Maguire has come under extra pressure after an own goal against Scotland and Garagher believes his teammates must show more respect to their former captain.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m well aware of Onana being demonstrative at all his clubs, and I like the fact he communicates,” said Carragher.<\/p>\n
“But to carry on like that in a pre season game when you\u2019ve been at the club two mins, to the club captain, was way over the top.”<\/p>\n
“Any player worth their salt (Keane, Vidic, Rio, Stam\u2026and me!) would have told him where to go & to get back in his goal.”<\/p>\n
