Jermaine Jenas has apologized for his burst of emotions towards the referee after the Arsenal-Spurs derby, which ended in a 2-2 draw.<\/p>\n
Jenas said that match official Rob Jones ‘got it wrong’ in a social media post.<\/p>\n
However, soon after the Englishman was heavily criticized by the referee association and gave his apology.<\/p>\n
“My emotions got the better of me and I apologize to The FA and to all match officials,” Jenas posted in a post.<\/p>\n
“I hold my hands up, I got it wrong yesterday. I should know, more than most, the responsibility we have as fans, players and pundits and the impact our words online can have as it’s an area I’ve been vocal in.”<\/p>\n
The situation that infuriated Jenas so much was the rewarded penalty for Arsenal for Christian Romero’s handball, which was initially not given. But VAR intervened and advised Jones to look the situation on the monitor and he eventually overturned his decision.<\/p>\n
