He resigned from his position today.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes a few days after the ex-Milwaukee Brewers general manager David Stearns was presented as the organization\u2019s 1<sup>st<\/sup> ever president of baseball operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, it is better, Stearns, to have a clean slate, which meant for me to resign,\u201d Billy said after stepping down. \u201cI hope for nothing but only for the success of the entire Mets team.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Breaking: New York Mets general manager Billy Eppler has resigned, the team announced. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KRKPRXhWKC\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/KRKPRXhWKC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ESPN (@espn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/espn\/status\/1710029191826051143?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">October 5, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Eppler became part of the New York Mets in 2021. He had previously worked for 5 years as GM of the LA Angels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBilly Eppler led this franchise through a 101-victory campaign and playoffs berth during the past campaign, and he will be missed,\u201d owner Steve Cohen shared after his resignation. \u201cWe accepted Eppler\u2019s resignation today as he decided it is more fair to hand over the leadership of Baseball Operations to David Stearns.
