{"id":466176,"date":"2023-10-18T06:55:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T10:55:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=466176"},"modified":"2023-10-18T06:55:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T10:55:31","slug":"showtime-exiting-boxing-after-nearly-40-years","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/showtime-exiting-boxing-after-nearly-40-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Showtime exiting boxing after nearly 40 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For almost 4 decades, &#8220;Showtime Championship Boxing&#8221; has televised some of the biggest bouts in the business, but Showtime will exit boxing programming at the end of the year, the TV\u2019s parent company, Paramount Global, shared today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we make strategical decisions to more efficiently allocate resources and align our content offering across the business, we&#8217;ve made the unfortunate choice not to move forward with boxing and other content produced by the SHOWTIME sports team,&#8221; Paramount announced.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;SHOWTIME will broadcast the sport until the end of 2023. We want to thank our employees who have contributed to this award-winning sports programming over almost 40 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The most popular boxer currently is Canelo Alvarez, who inked a 3-fight contract with PBC during the summer.
