Fernando Alonso claims that 2023 can still be considered a great season for him, despite recent drop in form, which has seen him fail to score points in the last two events.<\/p>\n
Mexico was another difficult race with the Spaniard qualifying 13th and failing to impress in race trim as he was forced to let his teammate through before retiring.<\/p>\n
“Not only in the race, I think the whole weekend has been a little bit difficult for us. Sometimes you learn more things from the difficulties than from the celebrations, so hopefully it\u2019s one of those times.” Alonso commented afterwards.<\/p>\n
The 42-year-old had an amazing start of the season, bagging 6 podiums in the first eight races, but since then it has been a downhill struggle with lots of issues and only one podium in Zandvoort. As a result, Aston Martin have fallen behind not only to Mercedes and Ferrari, but to McLaren as well.<\/p>\n
“Obviously, we would love to keep fighting for podiums, but we are not in that position unfortunately.” the two-time world champion added.<\/p>\n
“But no, it\u2019s not frustration yet, this year has been an incredible season for us. So, even if we DNF the remaining races, 2023 is still a good season, but hopefully we can revert this situation and we can finish on a high.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
