Jamie Garragher has claimed that his former team Liverpool are not strong enough to challenge for this year’s Premier League title.<\/p>\n
The Reds have had an encouraging start to the season, much better than last year with the team sitting 3rd in the table.<\/p>\n
However a surprising 1-1 draw with Luton over the weekend has raised a few eyebrows and according to Garragher the game underlined the team’s shortcomings.<\/p>\n
The Sky pundit believes, Jurgen Klopp’s side desperately requires a defensive midfielder and a defender if they were to challenge Manchester City.<\/p>\n
“What Liverpool have had in the last 18 months, they’re a lot better at it this season, they’re still not as good as Manchester City at stopping counter-attacks. People always think about Liverpool pressing from the front, but Liverpool are a team who dominate possession, have a lot of the ball. They’re not quite as good as City in possession so there’s more turnovers when they lose the ball.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
