Toto Wolff didn’t shy away from criticism when it came down to assessing Mercedes display at the Brazilian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
The Silver Arrows endured a nightmare race with Lewis Hamilton managing only P8 and George Russell forced to retire.<\/p>\n
Wolff shared his thoughts afterwards by claiming the W14 is a “miserable” car, despite promising signs in the last couple of races.<\/p>\n
“Inexcusable performance,” he told Sky Sports following the race. “There\u2019s not even words for that. That car finished second last week, and the week before, and whatever we did to it was horrible.”<\/p>\n
“Lewis survived out there but George\u2026 I can only feel for the two driving such a miserable thing. It shows how difficult the car is, it\u2019s on a knife edge.”<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve got to develop that better for next year because it can\u2019t be that within seven days you\u2019re finishing on the podium \u2013 solid, one of the two quickest cars \u2013 and then we finish eighth.”<\/p>\n
Mercedes could consider themselves lucky as their poor performance was not heavily punished by Ferrari as Charles Leclerc crashed out on the formation lap. That meant only one car finished and the Silver Arrows lead in the Constructors over the Italians was cut by only 4 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
