Former F1 driver Juan-Pablo Montoya shared what he thinks the reason is behind Adrian Newey’s decision to join Ferrari. Montoya raced Newey cars in 2005 and 2006 when he was a McLaren driver and has experience dealing with him.<\/p>\n
“I think the only reason Newey will go to Ferrari is the opportunity to work on their production models – explained the Colombian. – If Ferrari told him: “You will be responsible for our next five supercar models and you will also have to make a car for Formula 1, I think he would immediately agree, because Adrian always wants to achieve more than what is possible.<\/p>\n
Newey is currently working on the RB17, Red Bull’s hypercar, which should be ready before he officially leaves the company at the end of the year.<\/p>\n
Montoya also predicted that Red Bull would not fail after parting ways with Newey, although F1 history shows the opposite – teams that Newey leaves very often suffer for quite a long period of time.<\/p>\n
“There is a lot of work to be done before the new technical rules come into action, but Red Bull has hired the right people and I think they will do well,” Montoya said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
