{"id":485985,"date":"2024-08-04T18:30:39","date_gmt":"2024-08-04T22:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=485985"},"modified":"2024-08-04T18:30:39","modified_gmt":"2024-08-04T22:30:39","slug":"alcaraz-i-let-my-country-down-at-the-final-vs-djokovic","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/alcaraz-i-let-my-country-down-at-the-final-vs-djokovic\/","title":{"rendered":"Alcaraz: \u2018I let my country down at the final vs. Djokovic\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emotional and unable to hold back tears, Carlos Alcaraz needed time to be able to speak after being defeated by Novak Djokovic in the men&#8217;s tennis singles final at the Paris Olympics today.<\/p>\n<p>There would be no youngest-ever champ and no repeating Rafa Nadal\u2019s feat of securing the gold medal for Spain in his 1<sup>st<\/sup> Olympics on singles.<\/p>\n<p>Carlos won silver after a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) defeat against Nole at Court Philippe Chatrier, revealing the pressure of competing for Spain got to him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I believe I put more pressure on myself because I was representing my country and the Spaniards,&#8221; Carlos admitted. &#8220;I felt that I let the Spanish people down by losing the final.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz added he had not felt that type of pressure in the 4 Grand Slam finals that he appeared in and won all of them.
