{"id":492060,"date":"2025-04-03T13:55:44","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T17:55:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=492060"},"modified":"2025-04-03T13:55:44","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T17:55:44","slug":"cowboys-land-qb-joe-milton-iii-from-the-patriots","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/cowboys-land-qb-joe-milton-iii-from-the-patriots\/","title":{"rendered":"Cowboys land QB Joe Milton III from the Patriots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dallas Cowboys&#8217; search for a reserve QB to Dak Prescott has landed on Joe Milton III.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas acquired Joe and this year\u2019s 7<sup>th<\/sup>-round selection from the Pats for this year\u2019s 5<sup>th<\/sup>-round selection.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions between the organizations began in the past few weeks and were resolved in the past few days during the National Football League\u2019s annual meeting in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas\u2019 need for a reserve began after Cooper Rush inked a 2-season contract with the Ravens. Cowboys tried to sign Jacoby Brissett, but the quarterback decided to ink with the Cardinals. The other alternative for the franchise from Texas was Drew Lock, who played for the Giants in the past campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Dallas had discussions with Trey Lance regarding an extension after Dak sustained a campaign-ending hamstring injury, but a deal wasn\u2019t reached. Trey started the final match of the past campaign and, at the moment, is without a team.<\/p>\n<p>Milton, who was a 6<sup>th<\/sup>-round selection in 2024, competed in the Patriots\u2019 campaign finale as he led the team to a victory vs. the Bills.
