{"id":495316,"date":"2025-09-04T14:45:58","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T18:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=495316"},"modified":"2025-09-04T15:11:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T19:11:13","slug":"norris-is-not-out-of-the-title-race-says-piastri","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/norris-is-not-out-of-the-title-race-says-piastri\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Norris is not out of the title race&#8221;, says Piastri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oscar Piastri said that McLaren team-mate Lando Norris is \u201ccertainly not out of the fight\u201d for the world championship, despite opening up a 34-point lead after victory at the Dutch Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>Norris had been running second behind Piastri in Zandvoort before an engine failure ended his race and handed a significant boost to the Australian\u2019s title push.<\/p>\n<p>The gap between the two is now wide enough that Norris would need to win the next five races in succession, with Piastri finishing second each time, to reclaim the lead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a bit more difficult now, but I don\u2019t expect much to change,\u201d Piastri said. \u201cWe\u2019ll race each other the same way. The amount of risk-taking will be the same. We\u2019re both trying to be as fast as we can. It\u2019s not like we\u2019ve been holding anything back. My approach is exactly the same, and that won\u2019t change until the gap is significantly bigger or the number of races is much smaller.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Grand Prix this weekend will be the last European round of the season, with nine races remaining.
