Thomas Tuchel\u2019s tenure as England manager may prove short-lived, according to former Chelsea defender and pundit Scott Minto, who believes the German coach could soon return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n
Tuchel became the third non-Englishman to take charge of the Three Lions when he succeeded Gareth Southgate at the start of 2025. His goal is clear \u2014 to guide England to glory at the 2026 World Cup in North America. But despite a solid start that has seen six clean sheets in seven games, reports suggest the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss is \u201cnot enjoying\u201d his role with the national team.<\/p>\n
Speaking on talkSPORT\u2019s Matterface and Crook, Minto said he expects Tuchel to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United after the World Cup, given Amorim\u2019s current struggles at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
\u201cI personally think Ruben Amorim will last until the end of the season, and I personally think Thomas Tuchel will take over \u2014 we\u2019ll see what happens and whether that\u2019s the case or not. From what I\u2019m hearing, Tuchel is not really particularly enjoying the England job,\u201d Minto claimed.<\/p>\n
While Tuchel\u2019s England side have looked organised and defensively strong \u2014 with only one defeat, a 3-1 friendly loss to Senegal in June \u2014 questions remain about his long-term commitment. The 52-year-old has faced scrutiny for publicly describing the atmosphere at Wembley during a 3-0 win over Wales as \u201csilent,\u201d a remark that drew criticism from fans and pundits alike.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think Eddie Howe would have come out and criticised the England fans last night,\u201d Minto added. \u201cHe is who he is \u2014 very forthright, confident in himself, and one of the top managers in the world. I\u2019m a fan of Tuchel, I thought what he did at Chelsea was brilliant, but maybe the England job just isn\u2019t the right fit.\u201d<\/p>\n
