Lewis Hamilton has addressed the growing speculation linking former Red Bull boss Christian Horner with a move to Ferrari, calling the rumors \u201cdistracting\u201d ahead of this weekend\u2019s United States Grand Prix in Austin.<\/p>\n
Horner, who officially left Red Bull earlier this month after reaching a settlement with the team, has been heavily linked with Ferrari in recent days. Reports claim Scuderia president John Elkann is \u201creally focused\u201d on bringing him in as team principal, despite recently extending Frederic Vasseur\u2019s contract.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Hamilton was quick to dismiss the talk and reaffirmed his support for Vasseur.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know where the rumors have come from, so I can\u2019t really shed much light on that,\u201d the seven-time world champion said. \u201cBut it\u2019s a little bit distracting for us as a team. The team has made it clear where they stand in terms of re-signing Fred.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hamilton added that both he and Vasseur remain committed to Ferrari\u2019s long-term project: \u201cFred and I and the whole team are working really hard on the future for the team. These things naturally aren\u2019t helpful. I know everybody back at the factory is working incredibly hard and focused, and these sorts of rumors can sometimes be distracting.\u201d<\/p>\n
