{"id":506473,"date":"2026-01-12T12:12:30","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T16:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=506473"},"modified":"2026-01-12T12:12:30","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T16:12:30","slug":"packers-want-lafleur-to-continue-as-head-coach-of-the-team","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/7sport.net\/en\/news\/packers-want-lafleur-to-continue-as-head-coach-of-the-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Packers want LaFleur to continue as head coach of the team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Green Bay Packers are working to reach a deal in the next few days to keep boss Matt LaFleur in his current position in the organization.<\/p>\n<p>The head coach has 1 year remaining on his current deal, leaving his future with the Packers uncertain after the president of the franchise, Ed Policy, revealed in the past summer that he would prefer not to have a lame-duck manager.<\/p>\n<p>Matt\u2019s position became even shakier after Green Bay squandered an 18-point lead 2 days ago in a 31-27 defeat to the rival Chicago in the NFC wild-card game.<\/p>\n<p>The Packers head coach shared yesterday that he expects to speak with the team\u2019s president soon, but didn\u2019t reveal if he would fulfill his current contract and return as Green Bay boss next season.<\/p>\n<p>Green Bay has gone 76-40-1 in the regular campaign under Matt and has made the postseason in 6 of his 7 years.
