The only question that remains is when this will become official.<\/p>\n<p>On today\u2019s end-of-campaign news conference, San Francisco GM John Lynch shared what has been known for a long time: Brandon will not return to the only organization in the league he has ever known.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout a doubt, Aiyuk has played his last snap for the 49ers,\u201d the general manager revealed. \u201cIt is unfortunate, and I\u2019m sorry for that, but things sometimes don\u2019t work out. And that\u2019s the case here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John told the media that the wide receiver will be released or traded, but the chances for a trade are very slim. San Francisco had hoped to trade the WRs in the past offseason, but his injury ended any realistic hopes for getting something significant for him, as he had a big deal.<\/p>\n<p>The Niners GM added that moving on from Aiyuk will give the team more cap flexibility in the future, as his future guarantees on his contract will be voided.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kyle Shanahan calls the Brandon Aiyuk situation \u201cconfusing\u201d and something he\u2019s never seen in his 22 years coaching in the NFL. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunication stopped for me when I tried getting a hold of him and couldn\u2019t.
