Sabonis sustained the tear in mid-November, missed 27 matches attempting to rehab it, and was relatively productive in his 8 matches back.

But Sacramento’s campaign is going nowhere. The Kings have an NBA-worst 12-44 record and have lost 14 straight matches. They are no contenders for the postseason for quite some time already, and it’s a smart decision from Domantas to have surgery now and be at his best level for the new campaign.

LaVine is in a similar situation. Zach averaged almost 20 points in his 39 matches before the All-Star break, but missed 5 of the previous 10 and is deciding to have a procedure on a tendon injury in his right hand, meaning we will not see him again on the court this campaign.

Domantas Sabonis and Zach Lavine are out for the remainder of the season, per @ShamsCharania

Sabonis underwent season-ending surgery to repair his torn meniscus, while LaVine is undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a tendon injury in his hand pic.twitter.com/loPRvTFBPx

— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) February 18, 2026

The Sacramento Kings’ 2 highest-paid basketballers, Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine, both underwent campaign-ending procedures today.
