Chelsea now holds the record for the largest pre-tax loss in the history of the EPL after posting a deficit of 262.4 million pounds for the 2024-25 financial year. The sum represents a massive swing from the previous year\u2019s profit, which happened because of the internal sale of the club\u2019s women’s team.<\/p>\n
The previous negative record was held by Man City as the Sky Blues recorded almost 200 million pounds loss in 2011. This comes only a year after the team from Stamford Bridge posted almost 130 million pounds profit, though that surplus was heavily caveat by the sale of Chelsea Women to Blueco Midco for almost 200 million pounds.<\/p>\n
However, Chelsea recorded a revenue of almost 500 million pounds, their 2nd-highest ever, as most of the additional money came from the FIFA Club World Cup, where the Blues won the trophy.<\/p>\n
Despite the record loss, the officials at the Blues claim they remain compliant with the EPL\u2019s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.<\/p>\n
Since Todd Boehly became the owner of the club 4 years ago, the Blues have spent approximately 1.5 billion pounds on new players.<\/p>\n
