That way, the team is locking up the top prospect in baseball after only a few days after his MLB debut.<\/p>\n<p>The contract is worth 140 million dollars, the largest guarantee in Pittsburgh history, as well as for any player in his debut campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Konnor, who is still only 19 years old, was the 1<sup>st<\/sup> teenage position player to debut since Juan Soto 8 years ago, when he took over starting shortstop duties for Pittsburgh before their home opener. The deal buys out 3 potential seasons of free agency for Konnor, who is regarded as one of the best young players in the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInking Griffin is a meaningful commitment for the Pirates, Pittsburgh, and our supporters.
